Prices come from the plan
Every amount comes from the plan the contract points at, at the price of the billing month. The price snapshot is evidence, not a basis for arithmetic.
Everything that costs money is computed from the plan a member's contract points at: the day price, extra days, the base fee, the discount on rooms and the included allowances. The one exception is a room's price per hour: it is set on the room, and the plan says how much of it is included or waived. There is no other source of prices.
A plan does not have one price but one per billing month. Every change is an entry with the month from which it applies. What is charged is the price of the month being billed, not the price on the day of the invoice.
| What | What it is for |
|---|---|
| Plan | The basis for the arithmetic. If the contract points at it, its prices of the respective billing month apply. |
| Price snapshot | The evidence of what was agreed when the contract was signed. It appears in the contract document and is not used for computing. |
| Invoice | The result, frozen. It names the version of the price list it was calculated by and never changes again. |
What follows from that:
- Which plan applies depends on the date a figure describes, not on what the member “currently” has. During a scheduled change two contracts sit side by side. See Which contract applies.
- A new price does not apply to a member if it was entered for new members only, or if it needs an agreement that is missing. They then keep paying the previous price. See Plan a price change.
- You change a price on the plan itself, even when members hold it. A second plan is not needed for that. See Change a price.
- A room price applies to all plans at once. If a plan should pay less for rooms, give it a discount. See Included room hours.
- An empty price field means 0 €. There is no silent fallback to a default amount, neither from an earlier setting nor from a template.
